Probabilistic Volcanic Hazard Assessment of the 22.5–28°S Segment of the Central Volcanic Zone of the Andes

Evaluation of volcanic hazards typically focusses on single eruptive centres or spatially restricted areas, such as fields. Expanding hazard assessments across wide regions (e.g., large sections a continental margin) has rarely been attempted, due to the complexity integrating temporal and spatial variability in tectonic magmatic processes. In this study, we investigate new approaches quantify long-term active complex settings, using example 22.5–28°S segment Central Volcanic Zone Andes. This research is based estimation of: 1) probability future activity (based kernel density geospatial database), 2) events, 3) areas susceptible flow fall processes computer modeling). Integrating these results, produce set maps. We then calculate relative probabilities population area being affected by any phenomenon. Touristic towns La Poma (Argentina), Toconao (Chile), Antofagasta de la Sierra Socaire Talabre (Chile) are exposed highest hazard. addition, through work delineate five high (i.e., clusters), three which correlate well with geophysical evidence mid-crustal partial melt bodies. Many within clusters have poorly known eruption histories recommended be targeted for work. hope contribution will useful approach encourage probabilistic other arc segments.
